About Meno-QUEENIE

So, (Peri-)Menopause and Mid-Life, hm?! Shit sucks. I’m thinking climbing Mount Everest naked and gear-less type of “sucks,” to be specific.

Meno-QUEENie is here to help! While she might not be able to rid you of your symptoms entirely, she can, hopefully, help you forget about it all, and lift some of the weight that's wearing you down - even if it's only for a minute or two. Anything helps, doesn't it!?

Whether you have barely started or are uterus-deep in the shit, I hope you find a few chuckles in the snapshots of Meno-QUEENie, and that as you look at the illustrations here, or flip through the pages of the brand new Meno-QUEENie book, your dark days turn a little brighter. I’d love Meno-QUEENie's illustrations to be a reminder that while things might feel sad and lonely at times, you are never alone. Meno-QUEENie (and I) are right there with you, as are millions of other women out there fighting their own little mid-life demons, screaming “WTF menopause!” on the daily.

Always, always remember: no matter how sad or frustrating the journey through hormone/mid-life canyon might be, how many times you lose it, or how rage-y you might get, one day it’ll all be a thing of the past. We are badass, super humans after all, and we will, eventually, make it through. We might swear, scream, and potentially commit murder along the way (watch out husbands, partners, significant others...), but no matter how long it takes, one day, we’ll all miraculously reach the other side, and be our brand new happy selves again.

Until then... xoxo, my Queens, hang in there!! You got this!!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

My name is Jutta. I am your regular menopausal, mid-life girly, currently hard at work trying to figure shit out for myself.

My own mid-life journey has recently reached a new level of madness, keeping me trapped at home a lot with terrible migraines and never-ending migraine hangovers. The anger and frustration that comes with not being able to fix it and, hence, not being able to function the way I want to, lead to little doodles on my ipad. Somewhere along the way, Meno-QUEENie came to life, and the oh-so-delightful menopause and mid-life chaos turned into a fun and distracting drawing craze. Drawing out things I’ve encountered myself and stories I read online or heard from friends, channeling all the misery into illustrations, poking fun at the many ways menopause, mid-life, and empty-nesting manages to turn level-headed, balanced women into unrecognizable maniacs at times, actually made me feel a little bit better. Not physically, but definitely emotionally— lighter, in a way. So I thought… if humor and silly illustrations make me feel better, maybe they can make others feel a bit better too. Hence, this website, and the book.

Oftentimes, sarcasm is my go to when things get tough. Runs in the family. I love drawing, especially cute little characters. I don’t know, they make me happy. It’s like playing with dolls, just on paper, or on a screen for that matter. Paired with a good amount of sarcasm and a few F-bombs, it’s the absolute perfect medicine for the many ailments and annoyances that come with middle age. I very much hope that by scrolling through my illustrations or reading the book, the weight of all the things Menopause so very kindly throws at you feels a little less heavy, that you feel encouraged to carry on, and that you overall feel better in some way.

Sending you a giant hug and much love
